Polyguard UVO is an Ultra Violet Overcoat which is highly resistant to the damaging effects of UV light. It is a single component, low VOC, water based liquid coating that protects RD-6 anti-corrosion coating from harmful UV rays. Direct exposure to sunlight will result in degradation of the RD-6. UVO should be used as an overcoat to protect RD-6 on above ground pipeline field joint girth welds, valves, fittings, and FBE coated pipe from damaging UV light rays.
UVO may be applied with a brush, roller, or airless spray method to a clean and dry surface. Surrounding conditions for successful application are humidity less than 85% and temperature greater than 5°F (3°C) above the dew point. The product should be kept warm, with a minimum of 65°F (18°C). For best results, UVO should be thoroughly stirred to obtain a uniform consistency prior to application. DO NOT FREEZE. DO NOT THIN LIQUID COATING. In the event of cold weather, store inside prior to use and protect from freezing.
